Norman (mdnorman1@gmail.com) Notes: I have traced my Norman line back to a Reuben Norman; b. 1760's (according to 1830 census, Scott Co., MO); d. 1830/31, Scott Co., MO; m. Ellender (Ally) Patterson, 1805, Cape Girardeau Co., MO. I suspect Reuben was from Fauquier Co., VA. Reasoning: there is a Reuben listed in Fauquier p. p. tax list for 1790 but not in previous or later years (when there were several other Normans). Assuming that the Fauquier Co., VA Reuben appeared in p. p. tax list in 1790 because he had just reached tithable age (21 years), that would put his birth year as 1769 - within the same decade as the Scott Co., MO Reuben. I suspect the Fauquier Co. Reuben was related to Isaac of adjoining Culpeper Co. but have no proof. Note: Isaac' son Courtney had a son named Reuben who moved to Bourbon Co., KY & then to Sumner Co., TN where he died in 1805; and this Reuben named a son Reuben who died in Butler Co., KY in 1828. So, these two Reubens are not the one in SE MO in early 1800's. If my Reuben is indeed the one listed in Fauquier Co. in 1790, then I would most likely be a descendant of Issac, b. ca 1682. |
